Your data,
our house rules

What we collect, why we need it, and how we keep it locked down.

Welcome to NextMad. Whether you are a backpacker, a digital nomad, a weekend explorer, or a long-term global traveler, we respect your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect from our guests, why we need it, and how we keep it safe while strictly adhering to Indian hospitality laws.

By booking a stay with us, using our Wi-Fi, attending a rooftop event, or browsing our website, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.

01

What lands in our system

The Information We Collect

To provide a secure environment for all travelers and to comply with local regulations, we collect the following data:

A. Booking & Communication Data

Your full name, email address, phone number, and billing address when you make a reservation directly or through a third-party platform. Digital data such as IP address, browser type, and device information when you use our website for a smooth booking experience.

B. Mandatory Legal Identification (Collected at Check-in)

In compliance with the directives of the local police and the Ministry of Home Affairs, we are legally obligated to collect and verify physical identification for every single guest before granting access to our properties.

C. Payment Details

We collect payment information to process your booking. We use secure, encrypted third-party payment gateways and do not store your raw credit/debit card numbers on our servers.

  • Indian Nationals

A valid, original Government-issued Photo ID that includes your address (e.g., Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Driving License, or Passport). PAN Cards are not accepted as valid proof of address.

  • International Travelers

Your original Passport and a valid Indian Visa. We are required to record your passport details, visa number, date of arrival in India, port of entry, and your next destination.

  • Pakistani Nationals

Along with an original Passport and valid Visa, you must provide your original Indian High Commission residence permit and any required local police reporting documents as mandated by current government regulations.

Important

No ID, no bed

Mandatory Legal ID is collected at check-in for every guest. This is a non-negotiable legal requirement, not a NextMad preference.

02

Operations & legal compliance

How We Use Your Data

We utilize your information for two main purposes: operational excellence and legal compliance.

  • To Manage Your Stay

Processing your booking, managing check-ins/check-outs, and handling billing.

  • For Legal Compliance (Form C & FRRO)

The identification data of all foreign nationals (including specific requirements for Pakistani guests) is immediately submitted to the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) via Form C, as mandated by Indian law. Domestic guest records are maintained for local police verification.

  • To Keep You Safe

Using verified identities to ensure that only authorized, documented travelers have access to our dorms and common areas.

Important

FRRO / Form C filings

Foreign nationals' identity data is submitted to FRRO via Form C as mandated by Indian law. This filing is not optional and cannot be skipped on request.

03

Who else sees it

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Your data is only shared in the following strict circumstances:

  • With Law Enforcement & Government Authorities

We submit guest registers, Form C filings, and ID copies to local police and FRRO authorities to comply with national security and hospitality regulations. We will also cooperate fully with any lawful police investigation.

  • With Trusted Service Providers

We use secure third-party property management systems (PMS) and payment processors that only access the data required to complete your booking.

Important

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data

Your information is never packaged, sold, or handed off to advertisers, data brokers, or marketing networks. Period.

04

Your digital footprint

Wi-Fi & Network Privacy

We provide high-speed Wi-Fi for coders, creators, and travelers.

  • What We Log

We may log device MAC addresses, connection times, and bandwidth usage to ensure network stability and prevent abuse (like illegal downloads or crypto-mining).

  • What We Don't Do

We do not snoop on your private messages, passwords, or secure browsing data.

  • Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the legality of the content you access or download on our network. NextMad assumes zero liability for any cyber incidents, data theft, or malware you encounter while connected to our public network.

Important

Use a VPN for sensitive work

Public Wi-Fi is convenient, not bulletproof. If you're handling client data, banking, or anything confidential — turn on a VPN.

05

When you book elsewhere

Third-Party Links & Booking Platforms (OTAs)

If you book your stay through an Online Travel Agent (OTA) like Hostelworld, Booking.com, Agoda, or Makemytrip, your data is also subject to their respective privacy policies. NextMad is not responsible for data breaches, tracking, or privacy practices originating from third-party booking platforms or external links on our website.

06

Why we'll text you

Communication Consent

By providing your phone number and email address during the booking process, you explicitly consent to receive transactional communications from NextMad (via WhatsApp, SMS, or Email). This includes booking confirmations, check-in instructions, payment links, and emergency updates regarding your stay.

07

On the record

Cameras, Media, and Rooftop Events

  • CCTV Surveillance

For the physical safety of all travelers and their belongings, NextMad operates 24/7 CCTV surveillance in all public and common areas (reception, hallways, cafes, coworking spaces). Footage is strictly for security purposes and may be handed over to local authorities if a crime or dispute occurs.

  • Social Media & Crowd Consent

We frequently capture photos and videos of our community for social media. By entering common areas or attending rooftop events, DJ sets, or community mixers, you consent to being filmed and photographed as part of the crowd. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform the front desk team.

  • Walk-in Event & Club Access

If you are a walk-in guest attending a rooftop event or using our cafe (and not staying in the dorms), we may require a digital ID scan or register entry at the gate for the safety of our in-house residents. This data is kept secure and deleted on a rolling basis unless required by law enforcement.

08

The honest disclaimer

Limitation of Liability for Data Incidents

While we implement strict, industry-standard physical and digital security measures to protect your data, no system is 100% impenetrable. By utilizing our services, you acknowledge that NextMad cannot guarantee absolute data security against highly sophisticated cyberattacks or unforeseen circumstances. NextMad shall not be held legally or financially liable for data breaches beyond our reasonable control.

09

Who can stay

Policy on Minors

NextMad is strictly an 18-40 years old facility. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If a booking is mistakenly made for a minor, we reserve the right to cancel it and immediately delete any associated personal data.

Important

18–40 years only — no minors

We don't accept bookings for anyone under 18. Bookings made for minors are cancelled and the data is deleted.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Like most modern websites, NextMad uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to understand how you interact with our site, remember your preferences, and improve our digital experience. You can adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies, but this may affect how our website functions during the booking process.

11

What you can ask for

Your Data Rights

You own your personal data. You have the right to request access to the information we hold about you, ask for corrections, or request data deletion. However, please note that our legal obligation to retain your mandatory identification and check-in records for local authorities (police and tax departments) will supersede requests for immediate deletion of those specific documents.

12

Things change

Policy Updates

We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time to reflect changes in local laws, our business operations, or facility expansions. The most current version will always be live on our website.
