Everyday life

The Hostel Guide

  • Dorms are for Zzzs, Common Areas are for Hahas

    Respect the sleep! Keep the midnight snacking, guitar jamming, and deep life conversations in the common rooms. Your dorm is a sanctuary for snoring and dreaming.

  • Free the Toes

    Leave your shoes (and the dirt of the city) at the door. We like our floors clean enough to eat off… though we highly suggest using plates.

  • The Greta Thunberg Rule

    ACs run from 10 PM to 9 AM. If you're in the room during the day, open a window and let the mountain breeze in! Turn off lights and fans when you leave. Mother Earth says thanks.

  • MasterChef Nextmad

    You're welcome to cook a feast in our shared kitchen, but if you leave dirty dishes behind, bad karma will follow you on your travels. Clean up after yourself!

  • Bathroom Etiquette

    Leave the washroom looking exactly how you'd want to find it. No one wants to deal with your hair art on the walls.

The Deep-Work & Nomad Code

  • The Cone of Silence

    Our designated Deep-Work Zones are strictly for focus. No speakerphone calls, loud typing battles, or impromptu meetings here. Pop your headphones on and respect the flow state.

  • Don't Hog the Pipe

    High-speed Wi-Fi is our lifeblood. It is strictly meant for coding, creating, and regular professional use. Massive torrent downloads or crypto mining that cripples the bandwidth for others will get you disconnected.

  • Gear Liability

    Your tech gear is your baby. While our spaces are secure, NextMad is not responsible for your laptops, cameras, or accessories left unattended in the coworking spaces. Lock them up when you step away.

Who gets in

The Door Policy

  • Important

    The Sweet Spot (18–40 Years Only)

    We love families and kids, just not here. NextMad is a playground for young backpackers, digital nomads, and creators. No toddlers, no angry uncles.

  • The Clock

    Check-in starts from 1 PM onwards. Check-out is strictly at 10 AM. Don't make us physically roll you out of bed.

  • Show Us Your Papers

    No valid government Photo ID, no bed. Simple as that. (PAN Cards are not accepted for address verification). Foreign travelers, we need to see that original Passport and Visa. Pakistani guests, don't forget your Indian High Commission residence permit!

  • Squad Limits

    Traveling with the gang? Awesome. But we cap group bookings at 4 people. Don't try to outsmart us by booking separately — we'll catch it and cancel it. Also, we can't promise your whole squad will get the same dorm, but we'll try our best to play matchmaker!

How to get kicked out

The Dealbreakers

  • Important

    Zero Tolerance for Drugs

    We love a good trip, but strictly the travel kind. No drugs. Period. If you're caught with illegal substances, your stay ends immediately, you get zero refunds, and you're blacklisted forever. Don't test us.

  • No Outsiders in the Dorms

    Met a cool stranger? Great! Bring them to the public cafe or common area. Dorm floors are strictly VIP access for checked-in, paid guests only. Outside visitors are not permitted past the reception gate after 8 PM.

  • Keep the Smoke Outside

    Smoking inside the dorms or indoor workspaces is a massive no. Head to our dedicated outdoor smoking zones if you need a puff.

  • Don't Be a Jerk

    Harassment, discrimination, theft, fighting, or just being an unbearable human being will get you an immediate one-way ticket to the street. Be kind, be cool.

Cancellations & extras

The Money Talk

  • Important

    Change of Plans?

    Life happens. Cancel 3 days before you arrive, and you get a 100% refund. Cancel within 3 days? That money is going into our pizza fund (no refund). Once you check in, you're locked in.

  • Need Fresh Gear?

    Laundry is ₹300 a load. Forgot your towel? Rent a fluffy one from us for just ₹50.

  • Extensions

    Want to stay longer because you love us? Let us know ASAP! It's subject to availability, and you'll pay the current website rate.

  • Damages

    If you break, stain, or destroy hostel property (including custom workstations, mattresses, or gear), you will be charged the actual replacement or deep-cleaning cost before checkout.

We collect your data (ID, name, contact, payment info) strictly to secure your booking, complete local police C-Form mandates, and keep everyone safe. We don't sell it to creepy third parties.

We take photos and videos to show off how awesome the NextMad community is on social media. By staying here, you might end up in the background of our next viral reel. If you are deeply camera-shy, just let our team know!

Watch Your Stuff

We have 24/7 CCTV in the common areas, but use your lockers! We aren't responsible if you lose your phone, wallet, or your mind. You assume all risks by staying with us. Local jurisdiction rules apply for any disputes.

Legal venue

Jurisdiction & Venue

  • Local Jurisdiction (Jawali & Kangra District)

    District Courts: Jawali falls under the jurisdiction of the Kangra District Courts. For most civil, criminal, and consumer-related disputes, the local courts within the Kangra district are the primary venue. Civil & Criminal Matters: Minor legal disputes are handled by the lower courts (e.g., Munsiff/Judicial Magistrate courts) located in the nearest judicial centers within the district.

  • The Hierarchy of Indian Judiciary

    Legal disputes are not handled in a single specific village or town; they follow a hierarchy based on the nature and value of the dispute. District Level: Most standard litigation, including property disputes, family matters, and criminal cases, begins at the District Court level in Kangra. State Level: If a party is dissatisfied with a decision at the district level, they may appeal to the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, located in Shimla. National Level: High-stakes commercial disputes or matters involving constitutional law may eventually reach the Supreme Court of India in New Delhi.

  • Consumer Disputes (Hospitality & Business)

    Since we operate a hospitality brand, any consumer complaint filed by a guest against NextMad would generally be handled by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Kangra. These commissions are specifically empowered under the Consumer Protection Act to resolve disputes regarding service quality.

  • Commercial & Corporate Matters

    If NextMad is structured as a company, disputes regarding company management or shareholder agreements are typically handled by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), which has jurisdiction over the state of Himachal Pradesh via the Chandigarh Bench.

  • Important

    Summary of Venue

    While we're based in Jawali (176023), the venue for legal proceedings depends entirely on the type of case — Consumer / Local Civil / Criminal: Kangra District Courts. Appellate Matters: High Court of Himachal Pradesh (Shimla). Corporate / Company Law: NCLT (Chandigarh Bench, which covers Himachal Pradesh).
